is
a charming Edwardian house located on the upper slopes of Minehead's dramatic
North Hill, where the Exmoor National Park meets the sea. From your room you
will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Exmoor and the Quantock Hills. Stroll
at leisure around our lovely gardens or walk out from our porch onto miles of
footpath on North Hill. We provide the ideal starting point for walkers and
tourers from which to explore Exmoor's coast and countryside. The South West
Coast Path starts on the seafront and follows the coast round Devon and Cornwall
to finish at Poole Harbour in Dorset.
On
your arrival a cup of tea will help you relax and appreciate the peace and quiet
of our situation. At breakfast the next day you can chose from a wide range of
options to suit all tastes. Our bedrooms are spacious and tastefully furnished;
one room benefits from a luxurious four-poster. All the rooms have ensuite
bathrooms.
It's
just a short walk to Minehead centre, passing through the attractive
"Higher Town" with its thatched cottages, cobbled by-ways and historic
church. Minehead offers visitors an excellent range of Inns, pubs, restaurants
and tea rooms for dining out. It is the base for the very popular West Somerset
Steam Railway running between the Sea front and Bishop's Lydiard close to
Taunton. On the sea front visitors can choose between attractive old "Quay
Town" with its working harbour and miles of sandy shoreline stretching to
Dunster Beach and Blue Anchor Bay. .
From
the harbour in summer, scheduled excursions on the historic ships
"Waverley" and "Balmoral" leave for Wales, the Exmoor coast
and Lundy island. Minehead has a first rate golf links as well as riding stables
and sea and fresh water fishing. In the surrounding countryside there are many
places to visit including medieval Dunster with its centuries old castle,
Porlock and the picturesque villages of Selworthy, Allerford, Bossington and
others on the National Trust's Holnicote Estate. A little further afield is the
county boundary with North Devon and the fascinating coastal towns of Lynton
and Lynmouth. In fact our visitors have been returning to Minehead as their
holiday base for years and have still not completely explored the attractions of
the area!
