It's
just a short walk to Minehead centre, passing through the attractive
"Higher Town" with its thatched cottages, cobbled by-ways and historic
church. Minehead offers visitors an excellent range of Inns, pubs, restaurants
and tea rooms for dining out. It is the base for the very popular West Somerset

Taunton. On the sea front visitors can choose between attractive old "Quay
Town" with its working harbour and miles of sandy shoreline stretching to
Dunster Beach and Blue Anchor Bay. .

From
the harbour in summer, scheduled excursions on the historic ships
"Waverley" and "Balmoral" leave for Wales, the Exmoor coast

and sea and fresh water fishing. In the surrounding countryside there are many
places to visit including medieval Dunster with its centuries old castle,
Porlock and the picturesque villages of Selworthy, Allerford, Bossington and
others on the National Trust's Holnicote Estate.
A little further afield is the county boundary with North Devon and the fascinating coastal towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. In fact our visitors have been returning to Minehead as their holiday base for years and have still not completely explored the attractions of the area!
